ENGINEERING EXCELLENCE

Technical capabilities, certified equipment and fabrication standards behind every AS Metal Workshop build.

TECHNICAL CAPABILITIES &
FABRICATION STANDARDS

Every joint, cut, and weld is engineered to rigorous structural specifications compliant with Nepal National Building Code standards.

01

Prime Certified Material Sourcing

At AS Metal Workshop (A.S. Metal Workshop Engineering), precision fabrication begins with the selection of prime certified raw metals. For structural steel framing, columns, roof trusses, and mezzanine platforms, we utilize heavy-section mild steel complying with Nepal Standard (NS) and Indian Standard (IS 2062) benchmarks, featuring minimum yield strength of 250 to 500 MPa. For architectural applications such as custom entrance gates, decorative boundary railings, and modern partition screens, we utilize calibrated cold-rolled hollow sections (Square Hollow Sections and Rectangular Hollow Sections) with uniform wall thickness to ensure distortion-free welding, clean miters, and razor-sharp geometric alignment. For environments requiring maximum hygiene or chemical resistance, we fabricate with grade 304 and 316 austenitic stainless steel finished to satin brushed or mirror polish.

  • Structural Steel: High-tensile Fe 250, Fe 415, and Fe 500 grade structural steel
  • Hollow Sections: Square (SHS) and Rectangular (RHS) heavy-gauge tubing
  • Stainless Steel: Corrosion-free SS 304 and marine-grade SS 316 alloys
  • Aluminium: 6063-T6 architectural extruded profiles with anodized or powder finish
02

Multi-Process Certified Welding

Our workshop craftsmen possess over 10 years of hands-on expertise in specialized welding processes tailored to specific material metallurgy and structural load requirements. Every welded joint undergoes thorough visual inspection for proper weld penetration, dimensional uniformity, and the complete elimination of porosity, slag inclusion, or undercut defects.

  • SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding): The proven industry standard for heavy structural steel erection, load-bearing building columns, roof trusses, and rugged outdoor on-site fabrication under variable construction conditions.
  • GMAW (MIG Welding): High-deposition, clean, spatter-free continuous wire welding utilized in our workshop for precision fabrication of custom gates, railings, furniture frames, and sheet assemblies.
  • GTAW (TIG Welding): Precision root-pass welding and aesthetic joint fusion utilized for stainless steel handrails, architectural visible joints, and thin-gauge aluminium assemblies where zero-defect finishing is paramount.
  • Thermal Cutting & Edge Beveling: High-accuracy oxy-acetylene and plasma profiling, mechanical edge beveling, and plate preparation for 100% full weld penetration.

4-Stage Anti-Corrosion Protection

To ensure decades of longevity against Kathmandu Valley's seasonal monsoon rainfall, atmospheric dust, and humidity, every fabricated steel component undergoes a systematic, multi-layer surface finishing protocol before dispatch:

  • Stage 1 — Mechanical De-scaling: Complete removal of rolling mill scale, surface rust, weld slag, and sharp burrs using industrial angle grinders and rotary wire brushes.
  • Stage 2 — Chemical Cleaning & Degreasing: Solvent wiping to eliminate residual cutting lubricants, oils, and particulate contaminants, guaranteeing maximum primer adhesion.
  • Stage 3 — Zinc-Phosphate Anti-Rust Primer: High-adhesion application of zinc-rich phosphate epoxy or synthetic red-oxide primer providing galvanic and barrier corrosion protection.
  • Stage 4 — Industrial Polyurethane & Enamel Topcoat: Dual-coat application of high-durability synthetic enamel or polyurethane industrial paint formulated for UV resistance, color retention, and impact durability.

Building Code Compliance & Structural Safety

Our structural steel fabrications are fabricated to align strictly with architectural blueprints and engineering specifications under Nepal National Building Code standards (NBC 105 for seismic design and NBC 205 for mandatory structural steelwork). Base plates, anchor bolt patterns, gusset plates, web stiffeners, and splice connections are fabricated with strict tolerances to ensure flawless load transfer and structural stability during building construction and life-cycle operation.

  • Seismic Engineering: Load paths designed to absorb dynamic shear forces during earthquakes
  • Tolerances: Millimeter-accurate cutting, hole punching, and laser-verified plumb alignment
  • On-Site Fitting: Supervised installation by experienced riggers with complete safety equipment
  • Warranty & Support: Long-term craftsmanship guarantee on all structural welds and anchorages
